Skin Consultation

A skin consultation with a skin therapist, also known as a dermal aesthetician, typically involves a thorough assessment of your skin's condition to provide personalised skincare recommendations. A mini-facial is included in your skin consultation at Dermatology House.

This is what you should expect during the skin consultation:

  • Skin Analysis: Our skin therapist will closely examine your skin, looking at factors such as skin type, texture, tone, and any specific concerns you may have, like acne, pigmentation, or signs of ageing.
  • Medical History Review: You will be asked about your overall health, any medications you are taking, past skincare routines, and any known allergies. This information helps our therapist understand potential contributors to your skin's current condition.
  • Lifestyle and Habits Discussion: Factors like your diet, hydration, sleep patterns, and sun exposure can significantly impact your skin. Our skin therapist will inquire about your lifestyle to gain insights into potential influences on your skin health.
  • Skincare Routine Assessment: If you currently have a skincare routine, our therapist will review the products you're using. This includes cleansers, moisturisers, sunscreens, and any treatment products. Understanding your current routine helps tailor recommendations to complement or enhance your existing regimen.
  • Client Concerns and Goals: You will have the opportunity to discuss any specific concerns you have regarding your skin, as well as your skincare goals. Whether addressing acne, reducing fine lines, or achieving a more radiant complexion, expressing your objectives helps our skin therapist create a customised plan.
  • Sun Exposure and Protection: Sun exposure is a significant factor in skin health. Our skin therapist will inquire about your sun habits and educate you on the importance of sun protection, recommending suitable products.
  • Treatment Recommendations: Based on the information gathered, our skin therapist will provide recommendations for treatments and products that align with your skin's specific needs and goals. This could include professional treatments offered at Dermatology House, as well as a home skincare routine.

Ultimately, the goal of a skin consultation with a skin therapist is to create a personalised plan that addresses your unique needs and concerns. It's an opportunity to collaborate with a skincare professional to achieve and maintain healthy, radiant skin.

Microneedling

Microneedling is an affordable, minimally invasive cosmetic procedure known for its effectiveness and convenience. With minimal downtime, it offers a gentle approach to skin rejuvenation. This technique involves the use of fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.

Its versatility is evident in its ability to address a range of skin concerns, including the reduction of scars, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles. To enhance patient comfort, a topical anaesthetic will be applied before the procedure, ensuring a more comfortable experience.

Microneedling not only facilitates the absorption of active ingredients in the serums applied during the procedure but also tailors the treatment to address your specific concerns. Through the creation of controlled micro-injuries in the skin, microneedling enhances the penetration of topical treatments, ensuring that the active ingredients are absorbed more effectively, optimising their therapeutic impact.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove its outer layers. This process promotes exfoliation and the regeneration of new skin cells, leading to a refreshed and improved skin appearance. This can be beneficial against the signs of ageing, uneven skin tone and texture, sun damage, acne, and acne scars.

The chemical peels performed at Dermatology House vary in depth, ranging from superficial peels, which target the outermost layer of the skin, to medium-depth peels, which penetrate deeper layers.

Chemical peels offer a versatile and effective solution for individuals seeking to improve the overall appearance and health of their skin. Dermatology House offers a carefully curated range of chemical peels and these treatments are always tailored to each patient’s specific needs.

Microdermabrasion

This non-invasive procedure is used for skin rejuvenation and exfoliation. During the procedure, a handheld device is used to mechanically exfoliate the outermost layer of the skin. This device typically employs a diamond-tipped wand to gently remove dead skin cells, promoting skin renewal.

The innovative device used by our skin therapist combines microdermabrasion and micro-channelling techniques. This dual approach not only exfoliates the skin but also deposits a customised topical serum, tailored to meet the specific needs of each client.

Microdermabrasion is used for:

  • Exfoliation: Removing dead skin cells and promoting the turnover of new, healthier skin cells.
  • Improving Texture: Smoothing out uneven skin texture, reducing roughness.
  • Addressing Skin Concerns: Helping with various skin concerns such as acne, acne scarring, enlarged pores, sun damage, uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, melasma, fine lines, and wrinkles.

The exfoliation process can stimulate collagen production, contributing to improved skin elasticity and a more youthful appearance. The procedure is generally well-tolerated with little to no downtime. Consult our skin therapist to determine if microdermabrasion is suitable for your skin type and concerns.

Neurotoxin Injections

These are administered by one of the specialist dermatologists. Neurotoxins, such as botulinum toxin, remain a popular cosmetic treatment used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Neurotoxins work by temporarily blocking signals between nerves and muscles. When injected into specific facial muscles, it prevents them from contracting, which in turn smoothens the overlying skin and minimises wrinkles. This treatment is commonly used to soften lines on the forehead, around the eyes (crow's feet), and between the eyebrows. Anti-wrinkle injections are a safe and effective way to achieve a more youthful look without the need for surgery.
